Shelly Challenge 2025: Creativity Meets Automation

Over 200 groundbreaking smart home projects showcased the power of Shelly’s growing global community

Shelly Group’s global competition - Shelly Smart Home Challenge 2025, showcased over 200 creative smart home installations. Participants from Europe and the Americas submitted projects using Shelly devices, demonstrating ingenuity, technical expertise, and a strong grasp of home automation.

Innovative Projects Across Skill Levels

The challenge, held in June, featured three skill-based categories: The Minimalist, The Crafter, and The Visionary. Winning projects demonstrated diverse innovations, from automated energy usage, retrofitted analog saunas, to AI voice control over smart devices. One impressive entry allowed two homes to share excess solar energy through a single photovoltaic setup, while another built comprehensive home systems with over 150 connected devices.

Growing Engagement and Brand Recognition

The campaign reached 92,000+ social media users and attracted over 9,000 unique visits during its teaser phase. Germany, Austria, and Switzerland showed the highest engagement, indicating Shelly's popularity in those markets. Nearly 20% of participants were first-time Shelly users, highlighting growing brand adoption. Shelly products are now in over 4.5 million homes worldwide, with over 23 million devices sold.

“The creativity of our community continues to inspire us,” said Ivan Zahov, CMO at Shelly Group. “These projects showcase the power of smart automation in everyday life.” The company plans to continue the challenge in 2026 with new community initiatives.
