Shelly Europe Joins Bulgaria’s UN Global Compact Network

Official recognition was granted at a certificate ceremony held on May 7

Shelly Europe Ltd., a subsidiary of the Bulgarian IoT technology company Shelly Group, officially joined the Bulgarian Network of the UN Global Compact (BNUNGC) in February 2025, strengthening its local commitment to sustainability. While the company has been part of the global UN Global Compact (UNGC) initiative since December 2023, this local membership was specially marked by the presentation of the certificate at a ceremony held on May 7.

With this step, Shelly Europe places an even stronger emphasis on sustainability as a strategic priority, not just an additional policy. The company’s mission goes beyond simply offering smart devices – it drives a model where innovation, energy efficiency, and responsible consumption go hand in hand.

Shelly’s approach is closely aligned with four of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – directly linked to the core function of Shelly’s products, enabling users to monitor, manage, and automate their energy consumption in real time for significant savings and more responsible resource use.

SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – reflected in the company’s open architecture and flexible products, supporting the development of sustainable technological infrastructure and driving digital transformation across industries.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – embedded throughout Shelly’s product cycle, from design and components to manufacturing processes and long-term software support, focusing on minimizing waste, extending product life, and reducing the need for frequent replacement.

SDG 13: Climate Action – achieved through the overall impact of Shelly’s solutions, helping millions of users improve their energy management and reduce their carbon footprint.

For us, these goals are not just declarations – they serve as a real guide in our strategic planning, product development, and our relationships with clients, partners, and employees”, said Svetozar Iliev, Managing Director of Shelly Europe ltd. and Chief Financial Officer of Shelly Group. “Sustainability is not an add-on to our business – it’s at the core of everything we do”, Iliev emphasized.

Key sustainability initiatives at Shelly Europe include:

Integrating renewable energy in the company’s administrative office building

Offering energy-efficient products for both end consumers and businesses

Embedding ESG practices throughout internal management and product cycles

Maintaining international ISO certifications for quality, environment, and security

Building an inclusive culture focused on professional development

By supporting the international UN Global Compact initiative and its  local network, Shelly Europe becomes part of a network of over 20,000 companies in 80 countries, all united by the values of responsible business. The company will use this platform to exchange experience, share best practices, and contribute to creating a more transparent, innovative, and sustainable business environment both in Bulgaria and beyond.
