Do you have an infrared cabin or a small electric sauna up to 2500 W? Use Shelly Plug S Gen3 to make it smart. The Wi-Fi smart plug with power metering switches devices up to 2500 W – ideal for smaller sauna heaters.
To control power remotely or automatically, plug your sauna device into Shelly Plug S Gen3. In the app – or via schedules – you switch the outlet on/off and monitor consumption. If overheating or excessive current is detected, the plug switches off automatically. For temperature control, add the Shelly Plus Add-on with a temperature sensor: based on the measured value, the plug turns on or off to hold your target temperature.
Larger saunas for several people often use heaters over 2500 W. Shelly Plug S Gen3 isn’t sufficient here. Instead, use the Ogemray 25A smart relay, which switches and automates loads up to 25 A / 6000 W.
The relay is wired into the sauna’s power line – e.g., at the heater or heating element. Via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth you control the device in the Shelly app. Scenes can automate the heater by switching it on/off. Power metering shows live consumption. Ogemray 25A also adds protection to prevent overload or overheating.
With the Shelly App, you can switch your sauna at specific times or regulate temperature and humidity.
Connect your Shelly devices–e.g., the relay for the sauna heater and the Shelly Plus Add-on for sensors–via Wi-Fi and integrate them into your home network. From then on, control your sauna from anywhere. Notifications and status info keep you up to date.
Shelly Plus Add-on is a sensor interface with multiple inputs for temperature and humidity sensors. It collects the data and displays it in real time in the app (sensors sold separately). Because a sauna cabin reaches high temperatures, automations keep control safe: if the heater exceeds a threshold, it switches off; or you get a notification when the target temperature is reached so you can start your sauna session right away.
Placement tip: mount sensors 20–30 cm below the ceiling, but not directly above the heater. Alternatively, place them on the wall opposite the heater, away from vents or cold surfaces. A second sensor at seating height improves accuracy.

Relaxing in the living room and want the basement sauna in 30 minutes? One tap preheats the cabin. Thanks to the sensor, the app shows in real time when your target temperature is reached.
Kick off the weekend every Friday at 8 p.m.? Create a time schedule so preheating starts on time and your preferred temperature is ready at 8.
If 55% is your sweet spot, the system monitors moisture and automatically adjusts ventilation – or doses water for infusions – when needed.
You want a max of 10 minutes per round and 70 °C? With lights or speakers in/near the sauna you’ll be alerted if the temperature is too high or the time is up.
Dozed off after the last round? Automation turns the sauna off after a maximum operating time to save energy.
Shelly Smart Control is the latest platform for Shelly devices and offers more features than the classic app. It helps you save energy and costs – even in your sauna.
The app tracks energy with detailed statistics and a consumption analysis including electricity costs. If use spikes unexpectedly, you’re notified and can act – for instance, cut power to a forgotten ventilation fan remotely. In case of power outage or alarms from nearby water/smoke sensors, you react quickly.
Mood lighting makes sessions even more relaxing, in the sauna and outside where you cool down. With smart settings you control light precisely. Using Shelly BLU Door/Window, lights switch on when you enter and turn off when you leave.
Prefer color effects? Smart LEDs let you adapt light to each phase: warm white to relax, blue to calm, red to activate. Run color-change scenes via app or timer. Or link color to temperature: cool blue at lower temps and warm orange at full heat. Set bright or dim light by mood, even sync with music.
