Terms and Conditions for
" Shelly Smart Home Challenge "

1. Contest organizer and official terms and conditions:
The contest "Shelly Smart Home Challenge" from now on referred to as "the Contest," is organized by Shelly Europe Ltd., UIC: 202320104, address: 51 Cherni Vrah Blvd., Building 3, floor 2 and 3, post code 1407 Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria, from now on referred to as "Contest Organizer” or “the Organizer".
The Contest’s participants are required to comply with the terms and conditions of the Contest described below, referred to as "the Terms and Conditions". The Terms and Conditions of the Contest will be available throughout the whole period of the Contest here, on the website https://www.shelly.com/pages/shelly-smart-home-challenge-2025.
These Terms and Conditions are in the English language only. By sending its Project, each participant confirms his/her express consent with these Terms and Conditions and any related documents to be written in English.
By participating in the Contest, each participant agrees to abide by the terms of these Terms and Conditions and by the decisions of the Organizer, which shall be made in all cases in its sole and absolute discretion and are final and binding on all matters relating to the Contest. By entering the Contest, you acknowledge that you have read and agree with these Terms and Conditions and shall comply with them and any applicable laws that might be related to it.
The Contest Organizer reserves the right to amend or supplement the Terms and Conditions, with the changes coming into force after being published on the website https://www.shelly.com/pages/shelly-smart-home-challenge-2025
To participate in the Contest, you need to submit a form prepared by us, containing Your personal details, linking to a public video or photo (both together are also allowed), accompanied by text showcasing Your Use Case of Shelly devices for home automation. Your Use Case of Shelly devices for home automation needs to present your original idea of using Shelly devices and to show us how Shelly devices can be used to make life easier and more exciting (“the Project”).
Тhe Contest will be divided into three categories:
I. The Minimalist: For smart home first-timers
II. The Crafter: For DIYers, ready to go beyond the basics
III. The Visionary: For experts pushing boundaries and mastering automation.
Our expert jury will determine in which category the Project of each participant falls.
A Project can compete only in one category. But there is no limit to the number of projects each participant is allowed to submit to the Contest. In case you have prepared more than one, you will have to submit a separate form for each of them.
Submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:
• Format: Videos (up to 3 minutes) and/or Photos (high resolution) & Text (up to 500 words);
• Content: Clearly demonstrates how Shelly devices are utilized in their home automation setup.
• Originality: Submissions must be original own work created by the participant.
• Permission: Participants must have all relevant and necessary permissions to share their submission publicly.
• Prohibited Content: Participants are strictly prohibited from submitting any content that contains pornography, explicit violence, hate speech, or any other inappropriate material.
In summary:
1. Create Your Entry: take a photo and/or video (or both together) and write an article of your project with a step-by-step showcasing your innovative use case of Shelly devices for home automation. Ensure that your submission clearly demonstrates the functionality and benefits of your setup. The showcase may have the following content (“the Project Content” (this content is not obligatory):
• Project Executive summary.
• Parts needed.
• Steps.
• Shelly Installation.
• Wiring/installation diagram/video.
• User interface settings (over Shelly Smart Control app or some other application).
• Integration with other systems.
• Final product video/pictures and text – Use case – execution.
• Conclusions.
Please submit a URL to your publicly accessible link. It can be on any platform you prefer (Instructables, Google Drive, DoItYourself (DIY), Hackaday, etc.) or any other of your choice.
2. Visit the Contest Submission Page: go to the official contest submission page on the Shelly website https://www.shelly.com/pages/shelly-smart-home-challenge-2025 This page will contain the submission form and guidelines for participating in the contest.
3. Fill Out the Submission Form with the required information:
• Complete your personal and contact data – names and email address.
• Briefly describe Your Use Case (limit 500 words).
• Submission type – video (up to 3minutes) and/or Photo and text (up to 500 words);
• Share a direct, functioning link leading to the Project’s files - video, photos & text file where the Project is submitted.
• Confirmation of the Contest’s rules and terms.
4. Submit Your Entry:
Once you have filled out the submission form and provided your entry link click the "Submit" button to send your entry to us for review.
5. Confirmation Email:
After submitting your entry, you will receive a confirmation email acknowledging receipt of your submission. This email will also contain any additional information regarding the contest or future communications.
6. Wait for Judging:
Your entry will be reviewed by the judging panel based on the criteria outlined in these Terms and conditions.
7. Winner Notification:

8. Prize Redemption:
Winners will receive their prizes as outlined below.

The contest period will commence on 1.07.2025 and will end on 15.07.2025.
The Contest will run from the contest will run from Tuesday, 1.07.2025 (from 10:30, CET+2) (”Start date”) until Tuesday, 15.07.2025 (until 18:00, CET+2) (”End date”) .
This is the submission period for the Projects. The contest period may be shortened or extended from the pre-announced end date by a decision of the Organizer, which will be published here, on the https://www.shelly.com/pages/shelly-smart-home-challenge-2025
The Organizer reserves the right to suspend, modify, or terminate the Contest at any time for any reason, in its discretion, including without limitation in the event of fraud, abuse, tampering, technical, administrative, financial, or other difficulties. In such cases, the Organizer will post a notice on thehttps://www.shelly.com/pages/shelly-smart-home-challenge-2025 website.
A panel of judges consisting of experts in home automation and representatives from Shelly will evaluate the submissions in the three categories based on creativity, practicality, innovation, and clarity of presentation within the period 23.06.2025 on August 12th-15th, 2025.
The TOP 3 projects in each category that have received the highest number of judge’s votes shall receive a reward. If your entry is selected as one of the winners, you will be notified via email and announced on the Shelly website www.shelly.com and social media channels/platforms https://www.facebook.com/Shelly.IoT https://x.com/shelly_IoT; https://www.instagram.com/shelly.iot; https://www.linkedin.com/company/shellygroup/, https://www.threads.net/@shelly.iot https://www.tiktok.com/@shelly.iot , on August 12th-15th, 2025.
No purchase is required to enter the Challenge.
The Challenge is entirely skill-based and contains no elements based on chance. 
Only eligible Projects will be considered for the final selection and rewards. Please see the section “Additional Requirements”.
By entering the Contest, you agree that your names, Project’s name, short description of the Project, the direct link to the platform where the Project is submitted, including the Project itself - video, pictures and text therein will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of experts in home automation and representatives from Shelly based on creativity, practicality, innovation, and clarity of presentation. If you do not want the information in the previous sentence to be evaluated by us and published on Shelly’s website, social media channels, platforms, email newsletters for promotional with marketing purposes you should not enter the Contest.
The Challenge requires the upload of the Projects on a publicly available platform, in which cases the following shall apply:  the Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by, or associated with, any such social media or DIY (do it yourself) platforms (websites). Each Participant agrees to comply with all terms and policies governing such platforms in connection with the Contest.
3. Territory:
Worldwide (no limitations).
4. Right to participate:
Participant is every person, who has submitted his entry through the official contest submission form on Shelly's website Each submission must include the participant's email, a brief description of their use case and a link to their work published in a social media, DIY website or platform.
Entry into the Contest is open to all Shelly users worldwide, 18+ years old, excluding the management and employees (or family members of a manager or employee) of Shelly Europe Ltd., including its affiliate companies, subsidiary companies, and advertising agencies who are not eligible to enter the Contest.
If on the Start Date you are a "minor" meaning that you are under the age of 18, regardless of the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you must obtain permission from your parent or legal guardian, and your parent or legal guardian must consent to be bound by these Terms and Conditions as if he or she were Participant, before you submit an entry. The Organizer reserves the right to require minors to submit proof of parental/guardian permission and consent to these Terms and Conditions at any time, without which they may be immediately disqualified from the Contest.
The Contest is entirely skill-based and contains no elements based on chance. The standards applied during the judging process focus on assessing each entry's properties (including eligibility of the Participant, eligibility of the Projects and the Project Content). By the mere submission of a Project, the Participant acquires no automatic right to be admitted to participation in the Contest or to be awarded a prize, nor any other right except for the right to have such entry reviewed and evaluated subject to these Terms and Conditions.
The judgement about the eligibility of a Participant, a Project and/or a Project Content, as well as about their awarding is incontestable and belongs entirely to the Organizer. The decisions of the Organizer will be final. The Organizer will not correspond with participants about their eligibility, the eligibility of their Project and/or a Project Content or the determination of the winners other than as expressly provided in the Terms and Conditions.
Any Participant may withdraw from the Contest at any time by contacting the Organizer by email at marketing@shelly.com specifying the name of this Contest and any other relevant information. The Organizer shall not be liable for any acts or omissions, publications in the media, posts of links to the Projects, use of the Project Content etc. before the date of withdrawal.
5. Rewards description:
A panel of judges consisting of experts in home automation and representatives from Shelly will evaluate the submissions based on creativity, practicality, innovation, and clarity of presentation.
Winners will be announced on July 21st, 2025 through Shelly's website and social media channels/platforms https://www.facebook.com/Shelly.IoT https://x.com/shelly_IoT; https://www.instagram.com/shelly.iot; https://www.linkedin.com/company/shellygroup/, https://www.threads.net/@shelly.iot https://www.tiktok.com/@shelly.iot. Winners will also be notified personally via email.
Each Participant in the Contest, who has complied with the requirements for participation set in these Terms and Conditions and has submitted Project according to the provisions may be selected as a winner.
Three of the most innovative and creative Projects in each of the three category of the Contest, selected by our judges shall win awards in coupons for purchasing Shelly products from our shop on our the website: www.shelly.com as follows:
• 3rd place – EUR 100 coupon for Shelly products and honorable mention on Shelly's website and social media channels/platforms.
• 2nd place – EUR 300 coupon for Shelly products and honorable mention on Shelly's website and social media channels/platforms.
• 1st place – EUR 500 coupon for Shelly products and featured showcase of their use case on Shelly's website and social media channels/platforms.
Each coupon can be used only in accordance with the terms and conditions stated therein. Coupons can only be used for purchasing Shelly branded products from our shop on the website: www.shelly.com. Coupons are not exchanged for money. 
Each coupon provided under this clause 5 will be valid for a period of 1 year as of its distribution and may be used only once (maximum one time). One coupon can be used only for one purchase order. Multiple purchase orders with one coupon are not allowed. If the value of your purchase is less than the value of the coupon, no refund obligation arises for the Organizer. If the Coupon is not used for its full value, the difference cannot be refunded. If the value of the Order is greater than the value of the coupon, then it is necessary for the participant to pay the difference.

6. Additional Requirements:
Without limiting that requirement, each participation in the Contest also must comply with the following:
The Projects must be innovative and showing in practice how a Shelly product can be applied in your home.
The Projects must not involve any installation or usage in non-compliance with its intended purpose and/or safety instructions of the manufacturer.
Each Participant may participate in the Contest with an unlimited number of Projects. Each Project must be submitted by a separate submission form and sent to us as per the Terms and Conditions here. A Participant with more than one Project may be selected as a winner for each of the Project. Each project can only be awarded in one category. It is not possible for a Project to be selected as a winner in more than one category.
The link to your Project must be publicly available and accessible free of charge. The Organizer should have the right to freely download your Project. If the link is not accessible, we won’t be able to evaluate your Project.
The Projects must be published after the Start date of the Contest.
The Projects must be accessible during the entire period of the Contest and three months thereafter; Projects must not be created or submitted through any software-generated, robotic, programmed, script, macro, artificial intelligence, or other automated method.
Тhe Project must not have participated in previous edition(s) of the Contest.
The Projects must be entirely the original work of the Participant. If persons other than the Participant have contributed to an entry, the Participant must have the written permission from each contributor prior to submitting the entry;
The Project must not violate any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights.
The Project must not violate or damage the reputation of our Shelly products.
The Project must not be related or refer to competitive products or brands.
The Project must not be: (i) threatening, harassing, degrading or hateful; (ii) defamatory; (iii) fraudulent or tortious; (iv) obscene, indecent or otherwise objectionable; (v) deemed to cause feelings of disharmony, enmity, hatred or hostility between different religious or racial groups; (vi) protected by copyright, trademark, patents, utility models, design patents or other proprietary right without the express prior written consent of the owner of such right; or (vii) dangerous or potentially dangerous, or that would encourage dangerous behavior from viewers, such as use of explosives and/or harmful substances; or (vii) contrary to the applicable law or governmental policies of any country whose residents are eligible to enter the Contest;
The Project must not contain any material that (a) would give rise to criminal or civil liability or that encourages conduct that constitutes a criminal offense or (b) that violate any applicable statute, regulation, order, rule, treaty, or other ("Law(s)") or the Terms and Conditions of the Contest.
The Project must not be sent per e-mail or uploaded on a link containing or directly or indirectly introducing any type of hazard software, computer viruses, worms, software bombs or other similar items, that could cause loss of operational efficiency, loss of data or other damages to the systems and equipment of the Organizer or third parties;
The Project must not be provided by any non-eligible person(s).
Projects and/or Participant that do not comply with these additional requirements or any other requirements under these Terms and Conditions shall not be considered eligible. In such case the Organizer will have no responsibility for and will have the right to refuse in its discretion, any Projects including not providing the reward for it.
7. Selection
Within the period of 01.07.2025 (from 00:00, CET+2) – 15.07.2025 (until 23:59, CET+2) our judges will reviewe and evaluate all submitted Projects based on the criteria outlined here.
The TOP 3 projects with the highest number of judge’s votes will receive rewards as stated in Art. 5 of these Terms and Conditions.
Each member of the judging panel will have the right to vote for one Project chosen by him/her in each category separately. The project received the most votes from the judges in each category will be declared the winner – 1-st place. The projects with the second and third highest number of judges votes will be awarded as winners - 2-nd and 3-rd place. In case we do have projects with the same number of votes that qualify for winners, each of these Projects will receive reward in coupons according to its place of ranking shown in Art. 5 of these Terms and Conditions.

Winners will also be notified by us personally via email.
8. Reward Collection:
The coupons will be sent to the e-mail address of the participant filled in the submission form for participation in the Contest within one week as of the date on which the winners аre announced along with instructions on how to redeem them for Shelly products. The coupon code provided will have 1 year validity from its distribution.
The participant(s) will be solely responsible for complying with any and all applicable statutes, laws (including, without limitation, common law, if applicable), rules and regulations and for bearing any personal income tax, VAT, withholding taxes, customs duties, or other taxes, fees, insurance, surcharges or other costs relating to receiving, claiming or collecting any prize.
9. Limitation of Liability
The Organizer is entitled to reject to provide a Reward to a participant that was not eligible to participate or whose participation in the Contest is in non-compliance with the Terms and Conditions of the Contest or the applicable law as well as in case of alleged fraudulent actions on the part of the participant.
The Organizer shall not be liable for any not delivered rewards due to technical reasons on the Internet or the provider of the e-mail service or due to any other reason beyond the Organizer’s reasonable control.
The Organizer shall not be liable for any acts or omissions, crimes or further violations of the applicable law of any country which law might apply, violation of third-party rights, including intellectual property rights as well as for damages caused by any Participant in the Contest and/or its Project(s).
The Organizer shall not be liable for any actions undertaken by the social media, DIY platforms (website) where the Projects were uploaded, including but not limited to any account payments that might be required, any bans or restrictions, removal of content etc. Any Participant shall know the terms and conditions of the relevant social media, DIY platform (website) where he/she has chosen to upload its Project and comply with them.
The Organizer shall have no responsibility for and will have the right to refuse in its discretion, any Projects and Project Content that have been tampered with, or that are misdirected, incomplete, non-conforming, corrupt, lost, late, or ineligible, whether due to Internet or e-mail server failure or otherwise. Proof of transmission of an entry shall not constitute proof of receipt. It is each Participant's responsibility to keep Organizer informed of any changes to Participant's contact or other information during the Contest.
Organizer’s determination that a Participant, a Project and/or a Project Content is (or is not) eligible, as well as the decision of the Organizer to award it or not will be conclusive, and the Organizer shall have no liability to any Participant or any other person in connection with such determination.
The Organizer has no obligation to award a prize if doing so violates these Terms and Conditions or is prohibited by the applicable laws. Organizer’s determination that a participant is (or is not) legally prohibited from entering or receiving a prize will be conclusive, and the Organizer shall have no liability to any Participant or any other person in connection with such determination.
Тhe Organizer shall not be liable for not providing a reward in case of legal restrictions on payments, dealing or providing goods or services in sanctioned countries.
Further, to the maximum extent permitted by law, by entering the Contest, each Participant releases and holds harmless the Organizer from any and all responsibility, liability, damages (including, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, statutory, and other damages), losses, costs, or expenses of any kind arising out of or relating to:
(a) participation in the Contest, including but not limited to disputes among individuals claiming to have contributed to any winning entry;
(b) any violation by the Participant of these Terms and Conditions, the Policies, or applicable laws;
(c) misappropriation, infringement, or other violation of any third-party rights on the Project and/or the Project Content (including intellectual property rights);
(d) the acceptance, possession, receipt, or use of any prize or any item purchased with it;
(e) any Projects, Project Content that have been tampered with or that are misdirected, incomplete, non-conforming, corrupt, lost, late, or ineligible;
(f) any problems or technical malfunctions (including but not limited to errors, omissions, interruptions, deletions, defects, or delays in operation or transmission) of any equipment, software, network or provider, including any incorrect, incomplete information resulting therefrom;
e) any Internet traffic congestion or website accessibility or delays;
(g) errors in any Contest-related materials or any other technical or human error that may occur in connection with the Contest;
Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, the organizer shall not be liable for any lost profits or any special, incidental, indirect, punitive, exemplary, or consequential damages arising out of the contest, howsoever caused, whether arising in statute, tort (including, without limitation, negligence) contract, other legal theory or otherwise, and all such damages are hereby disclaimed and excluded.
10. Use of Personal Information.
Participation in the Contest does not require any registration of an account but filling in a submission form stating the name and e-mail of the Participant. The relevant platform chosen by the Participant might require registration of an account which may require submission of personal data. The Organizer shall not be responsible for the processing of this data by the relevant platform. Any Participant shall inform her/his self about the Privacy Policy applied by the administrator to the relevant social media or DIY platform.
In case that the link where the Project is accessible contains publicly available personal data, such as but not limited to author’s name, contact details, account/profile data, nationality, etc. by specifying the link in the submission form you agree that the link and your personal data available on it to be shared by the Organizer on our official website, as well as through Shelly's social media channels, platforms, email newsletters to reach a wide audience of home automation enthusiasts.

11. Representations.
By entering the Contest, each Participant represents and warrants that: (a) the he/she meets all eligibility requirements of the Contest, including these regarding the Project and the Project Content; (b) in entering and participating in the Contest, the Participant has complied and will comply in all respects with these Terms and Conditions, the Policies, and all applicable statutes, laws (including, without limitation, common law, if applicable), rules and regulations; and (c) the information provided in by the Participant, including without limitation all contact information, is true, accurate, and complete in all respects.
By entering the Contest, each Participant covenants, represents and warrants that he/she has obtained all necessary licenses, rights, consents, permissions and waivers to use and grant all of the rights in his/her Project Content granted under these Terms and Conditions in and to such Project Content and that he/she will comply with any requirements or restrictions imposed by these Terms and Conditions.
12. Publicity:
Ownership and right in Projects: These Terms and Conditions do not grant us (and we do not claim) any ownership rights in Your Project.
Our Use of Your Project Content (photos, images, videos, texts, drawings etc.). By providing us with link to your Projects Content you grant to us and our affiliates a world-wide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, and fully sub-licensable (through multiple tiers) right and license (but not the obligation) to reproduce, distribute, redistribute, modify, translate, adapt, prepare derivative works of, display, perform (each publicly or otherwise) and otherwise use all or part of the Projects Content related to the Project (including but not limited to videos, images, text etc.), by any and all means and through any media and formats now known or hereafter discovered, but solely in connection with the Contest and the Shelly products and/or our business activities (such as, without limitation, for promoting and marketing the Shelly products) and/or to comply with legal or technical requirements. By providing us with link to your Projects Content you agree that we have right to promote your Project through Shelly's website www.shelly.com, our social media channels and platforms https://www.facebook.com/Shelly.IoT https://x.com/shelly_IoT; https://www.instagram.com/shelly.iot; https://www.linkedin.com/company/shellygroup/, https://www.threads.net/@shelly.iot https://www.tiktok.com/@shelly.iot, email newsletters, to reach a wide audience of home automation enthusiasts.
Additionally, to the extent permitted under applicable law, you hereby waive and agree not to assert any and all rights that you may have under laws worldwide that concern “moral rights" or “droit moral," or similar rights, in connection with the Project Content.
Posting and sharing your Project Content: By posting, providing, uploading, submitting, sharing, publishing, distributing, making available or allowing others to access and/or use Your Project Content to or through the social media or DIY platform of your choice, including by providing us a link thereto for the purposes of the Contest, you are responsible and liable for the consequences of doing so and you acknowledge and agree that Your Project Content can and may be viewed worldwide. If you choose to make your personal information publicly available through fulfilling the submission form of the Contest, the relevant social media, DIY platform and Projects Content you do so at your own risk.

13. Governing Law:
By entering the Contest, Participants agree that these Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Republic of Bulgaria. The laws of such jurisdictions shall govern without reference to the conflicts-of-laws rules thereof. In addition, by entering the Contest, Participants agree that any claim, action or dispute arising under or relating to this Agreement will be brought exclusively in (and the parties will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of) the Republic of Bulgaria. By entering the Contest, each Participant submits to the jurisdiction of this court and waives any objection to this court, whether based on jurisdiction, venue, inconvenience of the forum, or otherwise. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, nothing will prevent the Organizer from bringing an action for infringement of intellectual property rights in any country where such infringement is alleged to occur.
14. Miscellaneous:
If any part of these Terms and Conditions is held by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or otherwise unenforceable, such part will be modified by such court to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable while preserving to the maximum extent possible the original intent of and the remaining parts of these Terms and Conditions will remain in full force and effect.
These Terms and conditions entered into force on 02.06.2025.

Your privacy is important to us. This is the reason why we have developed this Privacy Statement to provide you with all the needed information about why and how we process your personal data. This Privacy Statement describes how we process personal data related to the Contest "Shelly Smart Home Challenge" (“the Contest”).  

To participate in the Contest, you need to submit a form prepared by us, with Your personal details, a link to a public video or photo with text showcasing Your use case of Shelly devices for home automation. Your use case of Shelly devices for home automation needs to present your original idea of using Shelly devices and to show us how Shelly devices can be used to make life easier and more exciting (“the Project”).  

The detailed conditions for participation in the Contest, the Contest’s schedule, prizes and any other information relating to the Contest are referred to in the Official Contest Rules for "Shelly Smart Home Challenge" - Terms and Conditions for "Shelly Smart Home Challenge" (“the Terms and conditions of the Contest”, “Official Contest Rules”). 

“Personal data” is information that identifies or can reasonably be linked directly or indirectly to an identifiable person. For purposes of this Privacy Statement, “personal data” and “personal information” have the same meaning and are used interchangeably. 

The personal data controller is Shelly Europe Ltd., UIC: 202320104, having its seat and registered address in the city of Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria, address: 51 Cherni Vrah Blvd., Building 3, floor 2 and 3, post code 1407 Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria. 

The Data Protection Officer (DPO) will respond to all your queries regarding the processing and protection of personal data. You can contact the DPO via email at the following address: dpo@shelly.com

Shelly Europe Ltd. as an Organizer of the Contest is the administrator of the www.shelly.com website whereby your personal data is being processed. 

We obtain personal data directly from you or your legal representative when a fulfilled submission form is sent to us for entry in the Contest or when you interact with our www.shelly.com website.  

We might also obtain certain data about you from third parties such as the social media, DIY websites/platforms where you have published your Project and to the extent you have shared such data publicly. We do not obtain further data from these social media/websites/platforms than the information which you have made publicly available. 

We process Your personal data based on art. 6(1)(b) GDPR it is necessary for the performance of a contract, namely our Official Contest Rules for “Shelly Smart Home Challenge!”.  

We process Your personal data based on art. 6(1)(c) of GDPR, namely  for legal compliance reasons (e.g., tax laws, prize reporting, or regulatory obligations). 

We process Your personal data based on art. 6(1)(f) of GDPR - such as promoting the contest, ensuring security and fraud prevention, or improving future editions of the challenge.  

We process Your personal data based on art. 6(1)(a) of GDPR, such as sending marketing communications. 

1. Types of personal data that you provide us in relation to the Contest 

1.1. Identifiers of participants, such as: 

• Name(s). 
• E-mail. 
• Your Project’s name. 
• Short description of your Project. 
• Identifiers of your Shelly products (only if you have made these visible on your photos, videos of further Project Content). 
• Direct link to the platform where the Project is submitted. By accessing the link, we process the uploaded content - video or pictures and text. 
• Any further personal data that you have made publicly available on the link to your Project or in the content of the Project. 

1.2. Identifiers on the platform, where the link is uploaded:  

• Personal data regarding the Participant: Name(s), Project’s name, short description of the Project, the direct link to the platform where the Project is submitted, as well any further personal data available on the link or in the video or in the photos with text showcasing the participant ‘s use case of Shelly devices for home automation. 

2. Purposes of personal data processing: 

2.1. For Running and administering the Contest: 

• Processing your entry in the Contest. 
• Approving the eligibility of you and your Projects. 
• Assessing your Project. 
• Publishing your Project’s name, short description of the Project, the direct link to your Project on Shelly's website, our social media channels, email newsletters, and partner networks to reach a wide audience of home automation enthusiasts.  
• Project evaluation by our judges and proof of a legal vote under the Official Contest Rules, as well as winner announcements on our website, social media channels, email newsletters, and partner networks.  
• Contacting you or your representatives about your participation, including but not limited to your Project and/or your Project Content and/or your reward. 
• Providing you information about the Contest. 
•  Sending you a reward.

2.2. For managing our www.shelly.com website. 

2.3. For protecting our legitimate interests. 

2.4. For marketing purposes - sending you suggestions, offers, promotions, newsletters, surveys, or other information in furtherance only with your explicit consent. 

2.5. Legal and Regulatory Compliance - to comply with applicable legal obligations, such as tax reporting requirements or auditing in connection with prize awards. 

2.6. Security and fraud prevention: to ensure the integrity and security of the challenge, including preventing misuse, fraud, or any activity that may compromise the fair execution of the competition. 

3. Third parties to whom we provide your data: 

3.1. State bodies and authorities in relation to checks performed by them in accordance with statutory requirements and limitations. 

3.2. People affiliated with Shelly Europe Ltd. in connection with the use of shared technical and human resources, transformations and others, including employees of Shelly Europe Ltd. and/or the companies that are part of Shelly Group SE corporate structure, their legal representatives, members of the Board of Directors. 

3.3. Law enforcement, legal counsel, or other reasonably necessary when we have a good faith belief that the disclosure is necessary to prevent or respond to fraud or software piracy, defend ourselves against attacks, or protect the rights, property, and safety of our company, other participants and the public. 

3.4. Persons to whom we are required by law to provide information, such as according to subpoena or a court order. 

3.5. Meta Platforms Inc., Meta Platforms Ireland Limited., Twitter, Inc., LinkedIn Corporation or the subsidiary companies, TikTok Technology Limited, Google Ireland Limited, by sharing the link to your Project or your Project on our business pages as a part of the marketing campaign of the Contest or for other promotional or marketing purposes. 

3.6. Marketing agencies and suppliers of services concerning sending of messages for marketing and advertising. 

By entering the Contest, you agree that your names, Project’s name, short description of the Project, the direct link to the platform where the Project is submitted, including the Project itself - video, pictures and text therein will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of experts in home automation and representatives from Shelly based on creativity, practicality, innovation, and clarity of presentation and will be published on Shelly’s website, social media channels, platforms, email newsletters for promotional and marketing purposes. If you do not want the information in the previous sentence to be evaluated by us and published on Shelly’s website, social media channels, platforms, email newsletters for promotional purposes you should not enter the Contest.  

We may also disclose your personal information to other parties when we have your consent to do so or when you direct us to, for any purposes requested or permitted by you. 

We may share aggregated, anonymous, or de-identified demographic, statistical, and other information regarding the Contest for marketing and other purposes. Such information will not specifically identify any particular participant. 

4. Shelly Europe Ltd. is processing Data within the following time limits: 

4.1. Data related to Contest registration, participation, and prize distribution will be stored during the period of the Contest and for up to 5 years from the end of the Contest to ensure proper contest administration, respond to potential legal claims, and comply with statutory obligations. 

4.2. Data provided on the basis of your consent – until its withdrawal by way of written application directed to Shelly Europe Ltd. at the management address of the company. In cases of consent granted for direct marketing and advertising, you can withdraw your consent with a click on the link “unsubscribe” or by sending an e-mail to the address for cancellation stated in the notification.  

4.3. Data that are publicly available on the link to your project after sharing it by fulfilling the submission form of the Contest – until the deletion of the Project. Please take into account that your Project, the Project Content and any related thereto data will still be publicly available in the specific social media, DYI website/platform where you have published these until you delete them or according to the terms and conditions of the relevant social media, DYI website/platform. 

4.4. Data of importance for administrative proceedings, claims, investigations – until their closing with a final act.  

5. Your rights as regards your data: 

5.1. Right of access, including the right of a copy of the data that are being processed: 

At any given time, you have the right to request information regarding your personal data which we store. You can contact us and based on a written request and proving your identity your data will be provided to you. 

5.2. Right to correct inaccurate data 

You have the right to request the correction of your data if the data is inaccurate, including supplementing incomplete data. 

5.3. Right of erasure („The right to be forgotten“) in the following cases: 

1. Removing the need for processing; 

2. Withdrawal of consent when processing is based on consent; 

3. Illegal processing of data; 

4. Statutory obligation for erasure; 

The right to be forgotten is not an absolute right and may not be respected in cases provided by law, its exercise is exercised following due certification of your identity. 

5.4. Right to restrict processing when: 

1. the authenticity of data for the period when their authenticity should be checked is being disputed; or  

2. processing of data has no legal ground and instead of erasing it you want to restrict their processing; or  

3. data is necessary for establishing, exercising or protecting your legal claims; or 

4. objection for processing of data has been submitted pending a check as to whether the grounds of the controller are legal; 

In the event of correction, erasure or restriction of processing we will notify each recipient whose personal data has been disclosed unless this is not possible or requires disproportionate efforts. 

5.5. Right to transfer of machine-readable data: 

When processing your data in an automated manner based on your consent or a contractual ground, you have the right to receive a copy of your data in a structured, widely used and machine-readable format. The data will be provided directly to you or, at your request, it is technically possible to submit it to another controller of your choosing. 

5.6. Right to object to processing on the basis of legitimate interest: 

You have the right to object to the processing of your data based on the legitimate interests of the controller. Shelly Europe Ltd. will not continue to process your data unless it is proven that there are convincing legal grounds therefor, which prevail over your interests and rights or due to court disputes and other proceedings-related or non-proceedings-related actions. 

5.7. Right to object to direct marketing: 

You have the right to object to receiving marketing communications, including profiling and analysis of direct marketing. 

5.8. Right to a complaint before the Personal Data Protection Commission or before the regulatory body in a Member State of the EU at the place of habitual residence, workplace or place of the alleged violation. 

5.9. The right to withdraw the consent granted. 

- Consent to direct marketing and advertising – by sending of a notification to the address for cancellation stated in the direct marketing and advertising communication; Upon withdrawal of consent processing of the respective type of personal data for the stated purposes shall be terminated. Withdrawal of consent shall not prejudice the legality of the processing based on the consent granted before its withdrawal. 

Unless it is stated otherwise, the above-mentioned rights shall be exercised by way of a written request in a format determined by Shelly Europe Ltd. which may be accessed at the seat of the controller or electronically the following query to the Data Protection Officer at dpo@shelly.com and filling in an electronic form received in response. 

A reply to your query shall be sent within a month as of receipt of the written request on our side. In the event when the request presents a factual and/or legal difficulty, as well as in the case of a large number of requests received by the Controller this time limit might be prolonged by two months. 

6. Methods used for automated making of individual decisions, including profiling: 

We do not use automated algorithms and/or profiling. 

7. Data Security 

We maintain a combination of reasonable and appropriate physical, administrative, and technological controls to protect your data from unauthorized access or malicious actions.  

We take reasonable steps to limit the access employees, contractors, and agents have to your data to those who need to know this data to perform their assigned functions. 

Regarding any post on or interactions with our official website and social media channels, email newsletters, including the sharing of links to your Projects, Project Content, and further data available therethrough, we declare that our pages those of our partners follow the general rules on personal data protection that each provider of the service provide. 

Shelly Europe Ltd. reserves the right to change this Privacy Statement to reflect changes in the law, our data handling practices, or the features of our business. The updated Privacy Statement will be available on the https://www.shelly.com/pages/shelly-smart-home-challenge-2025 website. We will show the date the Privacy Statement was last updated to help you know when we change it.
