Shelly at IFA 2026: German manufacturers rely on European smart home technology

For Shelly, IFA 2026 is not only about new smart home products, but also about a growing partner network. Numerous companies – particularly from Germany – are also relying on the smart home manufacturer's technology to develop smart solutions of their own or to connect and integrate existing systems intelligently and without complication. 

Shelly and Miele combine their expertise for intelligent energy management  

With Miele, Shelly has gained one of the leading manufacturers of premium home appliances as a partner. The collaboration makes it possible to integrate smart Miele appliances such as washing machines, tumble dryers or dishwashers seamlessly into the Shelly Energy Management System (EMS) and to control them intelligently. End users benefit from a new function: instead of a fixed start time, they simply set the latest desired completion time. This is particularly worthwhile for users on a dynamic electricity tariff: via the connection to the power exchange, Shelly automatically determines the cheapest start time within the available window – depending on the current exchange electricity price.

Should the energy management system not intervene, or the connection be interrupted, the appliance starts automatically in good time so that the desired end time can be met. The integration is established through a secure cloud connection with the Shelly app, where the appliances are displayed and managed as individual household devices. Shelly handles the complete scheduling logic as the energy manager, while Miele provides model-based energy profiles for different appliance types, programmes and temperatures. The integration enables users to optimize when and how their Miele appliances operate, helping reduce energy costs while maintaining everyday convenience. 

Precise energy metering and smart control thanks to Shelly x WeWash  

WeWash, a wholly owned subsidiary of BSH Hausgeräte GmbH and thus part of the Bosch Group, established for more than ten years, is also relying on Shelly technology and will in future integrate devices such as the Shelly PRO 1PM, the Shelly PRO 3EM and the Shelly PRO Add-on into its so-called "WeWash Box" as intelligent control and energy metering units. This empowers shared laundry spaces with smart, reliable appliance management of the latest generation. Shelly enables seamless remote control through the WeWash app via API-based integration, while precise energy monitoring provides even greater operational transparency and supports and improves the predictive maintenance already established by WeWash by helping identify potential issues even more accurately, before they cause any restrictions for users, thereby optimizing performance. 
 

German manufacturers rely on “Powered by Shelly” 

Numerous other manufacturers are relying on Shelly's technology. Shelly X enables them to enhance their own smart products, eliminating the need for large-scale investments in platform development. At its core, Shelly is an open ecosystem built on interoperability, high security standards and European development. With server locations in the EU and a planned in-house production site for Shelly X in Bulgaria, Shelly offers companies a long-term and trustworthy alternative to proprietary platforms and non-European providers. 

Hörmann, Europe's leading supplier of doors, gates, frames and operators, puts its trust in Shelly X technology. Via a new "Powered by Shelly" gateway, mounted directly on the operator, selected Hörmann door solutions become part of the Shelly ecosystem. This makes garage doors, industrial doors and gate systems a fully integrated part of the connected building. Thanks to the open interfaces built into Shelly firmware — including local APIs and MQTT — status and control are available not only in the Shelly app, but also in automation platforms and professional building management systems. 

Rademacher is embracing the same concept. The German specialist for roller shutter and sun protection technology is developing a smart belt winder based on Shelly X. Replacing the existing manual mechanism in minutes and without rewiring, it delivers the three things homeowners want from automated shading: lower cooling costs in summer, added safety, and everyday comfort. All of it factory-fitted, with no extra Shelly modules behind switches or in the distribution board. 

A particular advantage of smart roller shutter control: the energy savings are not limited to the warm months. Closed roller shutters form an additional layer of insulation in front of the window, reducing heat loss during the heating season. Under automatic control, they close exactly when it matters, at sunset or from a defined outdoor temperature onwards, and open again in the morning to make use of solar heat gains. 

The smart belt winders also add value in terms of security: thanks to schedule-based control, the home appears occupied even during longer absences, without anyone having to intervene on site. 

In everyday use, reaching for the belt is no longer necessary at all. The roller shutter moves according to a schedule, via the app or as part of a scene together with lighting and heating. Obstacle detection protects the mechanism and the slats, and an individually definable favourite position moves the shutter to the desired shading height. 

With Hörmann and Rademacher, two renowned German manufacturers are relying on the Shelly X platform for joint product development. Both are choosing a reliable European solution, delivering genuine added value to their customers. 

Open integrations for greater added value 

Alongside product development, the network of integration partners is also growing continuously. The aim is to offer users maximum flexibility and to connect smart home, energy and building solutions from different manufacturers intelligently. EcoFlow, for example, is a long-standing partner in the photovoltaics field. The integration of the Shelly PRO 3EM enables precise recording of energy flows, among other things, and supports users in achieving true zero feed-in. The official integration with Victron Energy likewise expands the possibilities of intelligent energy management. Integrating Shelly solutions into a Victron system enables precise load distribution, advanced automation, and detailed energy monitoring. This helps extend the operational life of existing microinverter installations and maximize the value of BESS systems. By complementing Victron’s control of energy generation, storage, and inverters with intelligent switching and decentralized metering, the combined solution provides greater flexibility and control for residential and commercial energy projects. 

A strong partner network continues to grow 

The ecosystem is further complemented by companies such as nets360, which enables secure remote access to installed Shelly devices in energy and solar projects. Designed to scale from small installations to medium to large-scale operations, its remote management platform provides a central point for monitoring, configuring, and maintaining energy systems while reducing the need for complex VPN infrastructures and maintaining site and network security.  

With its continuously growing partner network, Shelly underlines its ambition not only to be a provider of intelligent smart home solutions, but increasingly to establish itself as a European technology platform for manufacturers, integrators and energy companies. The collaborations presented at IFA show that more companies are relying on the Shelly platform – for openness, security and long-term compatibility.
